ABOUT LAYOUT

Know it fits before you buy it

Layout turns a 3D scan of your apartment into a space you can furnish — accurately, at real scale, in your browser. No tape measure, no guesswork, no returning a sofa that was four inches too wide.

Why we built it

Moving into a new place involves a string of expensive, irreversible guesses. Will the bed frame clear the radiator? Is there room for a desk if the couch goes on that wall? People answer these with a tape measure, a paper sketch, and optimism — and then pay for the ones they get wrong in delivery fees, restocking charges, and furniture that never quite works.

The tools that could answer these questions properly were built for architects and priced accordingly. Everything aimed at regular people started from a blank rectangle that looked nothing like a real apartment.

Layout closes that gap. Scan your space with a phone, upload it, and furnish the actual room — with its actual walls, doors, and awkward corners.

What we care about

Real scale, or it is worthless

A planner that is approximately right is worse than no planner — it gives you false confidence. Everything in Layout is measured against the actual dimensions of your scan, so if the couch does not fit, you find out here rather than in a stairwell.

Your space, not a template

Most room planners start from a generic rectangle. Real apartments have radiators, awkward alcoves, doors that swing the wrong way, and a bay window nobody accounted for. Layout starts from a scan of your place, quirks included.

Fast enough to actually use

Planning a room should take minutes, not an afternoon of CAD. Drag a piece in, spin it, move on. If a decision takes longer in the tool than in the room, we have failed.
